Valentines Day or How to love your husband.

Dear God,

I have to be honest. I understood this week’s gospel about as well as I comprehended Sophocles’s "Oedipus Rex" and Aeschylus’s "Prometheus Bound" back in college, so I’m grasping at literary themes much like an engineering major thrown into English Lit 101.

This part I get: a woman can’t keep her husband happy. In Luke 20:27-38, a woman goes through seven husbands. SEVEN husbands, God! After the first died, she married the second, and then the third, fourth, and so on.

I want to know what the hell she was feeding them, and how she handled the wrath of her mother-in-law, who must have lived in a therapist’s office her remaining days to process the anger she felt toward a broad who managed to kill all seven of her sons.

My guess is this: the wife was bipolar and refused to get treated. That’s one sure way to bury a husband.

So, I think today’s lesson is to keep your spouse alive and healthy. At the risk of sounding like a country song played backwards--I got my house back, got my wife back, got my truck back—here is a list of suggestions I came up with to keep a husband happy.

Your feedback would be most appreciated.

I received this from a friend this morning. I think she got it off of Beliefnet I've been married for over 22 years to my sweetheart Dennis and to be quite honest it's hard work. Maybe after all this time I am finally learning to love him the way that I should. I can honestly say that God has given me a new respect and love for MVWH (my very wise husband) and I think in some ways it takes that long to really get to having a strong marriage.
Our anniversary is December 21 and this year I decided to give him something that I knew he would really like. You know, as opposed to what I thought he needed, or what I would like to give him. I gave him a photo album of me, a la 'pin-up girl', (for his eyes only), tasteful but a little racy, wink wink nudge nudge. Not really something that I was comfortable with. Only a woman who really knows she is loved would be confident enough, and the fact that a trusted friend who is a budding photographer took the pictures made it a whole lot easier. Dennis loves the album, which I interspersed with love quotes and scriptures pertaining to love. Just a little bit mushy with a whole lot of flirt on the side.
So then along comes Valentines day and he asks 'do I get more pictures for my album?' Well yes, as a matter of fact you do. But these pictures can be shared. LOL So thanks to everyone who has left such nice comments on my new profile pics, here and on facebook. You're all so sweet. (btw Misty rocks.)

haha, you really gotta love Dennis. You know he is gonna keep asking for more pics for his "book". Thanks for the compliment and the link.
Marriage is VERY hard work but in my eyes it is worth every single moment and I would not change it for the world. You two are very lucky to have one another. You are so great together

I'd love to hear what you think of the question about "30 days of sex" I left over on Prodigal Daugher today if you have time.
