Son #2, Joshua is now driving.
Wonderful really because he had to work hard to get it. With the new novice driving system it is very difficult to pass. He is working full time in Abbotsford and it is a 40 minute round trip to get him there. Nice that now he can take the car and go. Nice for him that is, not so nice for me. The car he takes is mine. Leaves me without wheels. Another one of the joys of being a mother. Guess you didn't factor in that one huh. There are a few other sacrifices that mothers make that many are not aware of.
Here are just a few;
-the last cookie in the jar will never go to mother because she says,'who wants this last cookie?'. Fool, there are always takers.
- If you are a mother of boys, a dry toilet seat. No comment necessary.
- a hot meal, eaten at the table with the rest of the family.
- new socks or the opportunity to wear them more than once.
- uninterrupted sleep, doesn't matter how old your children are, you will be awake listening for them.
- Your preference in music while driving somewhere in the car with the cd player.
- eating in a restaurant that uses table cloths.
- your choice in pets.
- a clean and tidy house for longer than the study you are hosting that evening.
I'm sure there are more I haven't thought of in my sleep deprived, hungry state.
Never could think well with cold feet.

- or how about being able to spend more than 2 minutes in the bathroom without someone knocking on the door.
- or having a conversation on the cordless phone with a friend without having a child following you from room to room.
- or just plain sanity!!
this too shall pass......
last cookie huh. that last cookie stays around for a long time here because nobody wants to be take it. Reason? because then we have to clean up the cookie jar.
buy pink socks, or maybe flowery socks, or those socks with those little puffy balls on the ankles... i doubt you'll lose those ones to your boys.
i totally agree with your post sushi but i had a thot, may be a bad one.
i wonder if we instill a selfishness in children when we don't stick up for ourselves with the last cookie etc. i wonder if they develop a sense of "entitlement" and could learn that it's ok to take advantage of their mother and other adults. just processing out loud here, no one hurt me!
I once had a fight with Andrew over the last mini box of fruit loops. John thought that was pretty low....but Andrew had already had one himself and all that was left was the Bran flakes. Life's not fair.
